RENO, Nev.- Josien Wijkhuijs, a freshman in the Nevada swimming program will be competing at this week's Dutch Open Swimming Championships in Amersfoot, Netherlands that run from June 21-23. 

Wijkhuijs will be competing in the 50-meter butterfly and the 50-meter freestyle on Friday with the hopes of recording a world qualifying time of 26.34 in fly. Saturday is a busy day for the freshman as she has three events, the 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter backstroke and the 100-meter freestyle. Wijkhuijs wraps up her competition on Sunday in the 50-meter backstroke. 

The freshman entered the Wolf Pack program at the mid-year break and managed to make an immediate impact, scoring in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke. She finished fifth overall in the 50-yard free at the Mountain West Championships, sixth overall in the 100-yard butterfly and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke.
