RENO, Nev. - The Nevada softball team moves to 26-23, 10-11 on the season after dropping a heartbreaker to UNLV, 3-2 that came down to the final at bat. 

Kali Sargent pitched her second complete game of the weekend and registered eight strikeouts in the Sunday contest. The senior only allowed three runs, all of which came off of two home runs. She is now 6-9 on the season. 

Sadaria McAlister recorded another multi-hit game, going 2-of-4 with one run scored. Ashley Salausa had her first hit of the series, a two RBI home run, while Kwynn Warner, Danielle Lew and Rachel Rodriguez all registered single hits in the contest. 

The game started out with UNLV scoring two in a two-run shot over the left field wall in the first inning and then a solo knock over the wall in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. The Pack held the Rebels at bay quite a few times with Sargent recording six backwards K's in the game. 

The Pack started the rally in the sixth inning when McAlister hit an infield single to give Nevada a base runner when Salausa stepped up. The sophomore launched a long ball over the left field center wall and the game was now in a one-run difference, 3-2. 

It came down to the seventh inning when Sargent sat the Rebels down to give the Pack one final chance. Rodriguez came in to pinch hit and hit a single back to deep second base and was safe when Sierra Mello entered the box. With the tying run on first the Pack just could not cross Jessica Sellers, who entered to run for Rodriguez. The game ended on a shallow fly ball to the shortstop and the Pack fell, 3-2 in the Silver State Series.

Next on the calendar for Nevada is a three-game series with San Jose State in San Jose, Calif., with the games beginning on Thursday, May 9 and concluding on Saturday, May 11. The Spartans currently sit in second place behind Colorado State with the Rams already clinching the championship; with no Mountain West softball tournament the teams will wait until Sunday, May 12th to hear who is going to an NCAA Regional.
