RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada (8-6) women's tennis team opens Mountain West play this weekend with a pair of matches. The Wolf Pack plays at intrastate rival UNLV (11-6, 1-0 MW) on Friday at 10 a.m. and host San Diego State (10-7, 1-0 MW) at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the McArthur Tennis Center. The UNLV match is part of the Silver State Series.
The Pack split its two home matches last week downing Sonoma State 4-1 and falling 4-3 to Sacramento State.
Roos Van reek (7-3) and
Selina Turulja (7-4) lead the team with seven singles wins each in the spring. Van reek has seen her action on courts two through four. Turulja has played at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles.
Maria Tatarnikova (6-4) and Adriana Gerglyova (6-5) each have six singles wins in the spring. Tatarnikova has played on courts four through six while Gerglyova in the top three spots on the team.
Anastaysha Gorbacheva is 4-2 playing exclusively at No. 6 singles. Melissa Hutchet has gone 4-5 playing in the top three singles spots.
Tatarnikova and Turuljia are 10-2 in doubles play with nine of those victories coming on court 3. Gergelyova and Van reek have played mostly at No. 2 doubles going 7-3 and have one win on court 1 for a combined record of 8-3. Gorbacheva and
Marta Ruedas have seen the most time at No. 1 doubles posting a 4-4 record. Head coach
Guillaume Tonelli has used 13 different doubles combinations that have a combined record of 25-14.
