Reno, Nev. – With Nevada's (15-13) 6-2 defeat of Sacramento State (18-10) on Wednesday afternoon, head coach T.J. Bruce earned his 100th career victory as the leader of the Wolf Pack baseball team. In his fourth season with the program, Bruce and the Pack took down a Hornet team that had won 14 of its last 16 games.

The Pack will look to put together a win streak this weekend when it hosts San Diego State for a three-game series. Tickets are available online or by calling (775) 348-PACK.

Shane Gustafson (1-0) picked up his first win in a Nevada uniform after tossing a career-high seven strikeouts in five innings against the Hornets. Offensively, Nevada was led by redshirt sophomore Conor Allard and redshirt senior Keaton Smith who each totaled two RBI.

Weston Hatten hit the go-ahead solo homer in the third inning when the contest was tied 1-1 to give the Pack a lead it would never relinquish. The Pack earned the first run thanks to an RBI-double by freshman Matt Clayton in the second frame.

Smith notched his two RBI on the afternoon with a single through the left side to score Allard and Dillan Shrum. The following inning, after the Hornets cut Nevada's lead to two, Allard singled to center field to bring home Joshua Zamora and extend the Pack's lead back to 5-2.

The final run of the day came thanks to the bat of Allard, who brought Jaylon McLaughlin home from third base on a deep sacrifice fly to center field.

Following Gustafson's outing after five innings, the Pack bullpen only surrendered one hit the rest of the game. Josh Congress, Cooper Powell and Bradley Bonnenfant combined for four innings and no earned runs while each pitcher struck out two batters.

With a 5-7 Mountain West record, Nevada will look to win its series against conference foe Aztecs this Friday through Sunday.
