RENO, Nev. – After winning seven of its previous eight games, Nevada (23-19, 10-12 MW) dropped its first of a three-game series at Air Force (18-22, 8-12 MW) on Friday afternoon 13-3. Sophomore
Tyler Bosetti led Nevada with two hits and an RBI.
Tomorrow's contest is slated to be played at 12 p.m. John Ramey will have the call on 94.1 FM/1450 AM and a live broadcast will be available on the Mountain West Network.
Thanks to a three-run bomb to start the game in the first inning by Nic Ready, Air Force jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Two homers in the first and six more runs in the third gave the Falcons 11 runs through three. Nevada could only muster one run in the first three frames, as senior
Keaton Smith scampered home from third on a throwing error after smacking a triple.
After 12 runs combined through the first three innings, the two teams only scored two more each the rest of the afternoon. The Wolf Pack scored in the fourth when Bosetti notched one of his two hits on an RBI-single through the left side. The Pack's final run came from a
Nick Seamons groundout that scored
Otis Statum Jr. from third base.
In the fourth inning, after replacing
Conor Allard at first base earlier in the contest,
Josh Prizina recorded his first collegiate hit with a single through the left side.
Nevada has dropped three games in a row to the Falcons, but can still win the series with victories tomorrow and Sunday. The all-time series between the two schools is now tied 16-16.
