Nevada drops 4-2 Mountain West match to New Mexico

On the road for two MW matches next weekend

RENO, Nev.  – The University of Nevada (8-6, 1-1 MW) men's tennis team ended a three-match homestand with a 4-2 Mountain West loss to New Mexico (7-6, 2-0 MW) at the McArthur Tennis Center this afternoon.  The Wolf Pack is now 8-6 on the season and 1-1 in MW action while the Lobos improved to 7-6 and 2-0 in conference play.
 
Nevada takes to the road next weekend for a pair of MW matches at intrastate rival UNLV on Friday a 5 p.m. and at San Diego State on Sunday at noon.
 
The doubles point came down to Court 3 where UNM's Tim Buttner and Nicolas Prieto defeated the Pack's Daniel Dudockin and Gvidas Motuzas 6-1 to clinch the point.  The Pack's No. 1 doubles team of Kostya Nesterenko and Julien Evrard won their match 6-2 but the Lobos' No. 2 team of Facundo Bermejo and Dominic West won 6-1 as the first two completed matches were split.
 
Nevada evened the score at 1-1 as Matvey Radinov won 6-4, 6-2 on Court 6.  UNM won the next two completed matches at No. 3 and 2 singles to take a 3-1 advantage that the Wolf Pack were unable to overcome.
 
The Pack closed within a point at 3-2 following a straight sets 6-4, 6-1 win by Dudockin at No. 6 singles.  The Lobos clinched the match with a three-set 6-3, 1-6 and 6-3 win by Ricky Hernandez Tong over Nevada's Julien Evrard on Court 1.  In the match that went unfinished on Court 4 the Pack's Jonathan Aremon was ahead 5-2 in the third set.   Aremon won the first set 6-3 and dropped the second set 7-5.
