MISSOULA, Mont. - The Nevada softball team moves to 17-11 on the season after falling in the final game of the a three-game series to Montana, 4-3. The Pack return to Mountain West play next weekend against New Mexico.
Kenzi Goins and
Kwynn Warner both posted multi-hit games with two a piece. The team combined to have eight hits in the game including Goins and Warner.
Julia Jensen got the start and pitched 1 2/3 innings before
Kali Sargent came in relief and pitched 4 1/3 with four strikeouts. Sargent was given the loss and moves to 4-6 on year.
Montana got on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Pack responded with a single run in the second on a sac fly from
Haley Burda to score Warner from third. However, the Grizzlies added a third run on an RBI fielders choice, 3-1.
Nevada had a single run in each the third and fifth inning to tie it up, 3-3. In the third inning,
Dallas Millwood knocked a double to put her on second when Warner drove down the left line to score Millwood from second. Then in the fifth inning, a double from
Sadaria McAlister and a double from Goins tied the game up, 3-3.
The bottom of the seventh inning, with the game still tied, the Griz scored on a wild pitch and took the game, 4-3.
Next weekend, the Pack travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico to play the Lobos in a three-game Mountain West series Friday-Sunday with a single game each day. The games will be live streamed and have live stats.
