SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Nevada men's tennis team dropped a match against Mountain West foe Fresno State today, falling 4-3. The match served as the final for the Golden State Invitational, which was cancelled due to weather on March 9. The loss brings the Wolf Pack to 6-3 on the season.
The Pack dropped the doubles point 2-1. The pairing of junior
Julien Evrard and sophomore
Kostya Nesterenko blanked Fresno State's Mantas Bugailiskis and Patrik Pech, winning 6-0. Sophomore
Jeremy Merville and senior
Jonathan Aremon fell 7-6 to Angus Bradshaw and Jeremy Moser. The freshman duo of
Benjamin Campi and
Matvey Radionov fell 6-3 to Zdenek Derkas and Henrique Osorio.
Nevada split the singles matches with the Bulldogs, led by Evrard's 6-4, 7-6 victory over Derkas. Nesterenko topped Bugailiskis 6-3, 6-4, and Aremon took a 6-3, 6-3 win over Moser.
Freshman
Daniel Dudockin dropped his singles match against Osorio, falling 6-2, 6-3. Merville dropped his singles match 6-2, 6-4 to Bradshaw, and Radionov fell 6-2, 6-2 to Pech.
Next up for the Pack is a 10 a.m. PT match tomorrow morning against the Cal Poly Mustangs. Nevada will then return to Reno for a March 28 matchup with the Sacramento State Hornets at the Macarthur Tennis Center, which begins at 1 p.m. PT.
