Musselman late season Werner Ladder Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year candidate

One of 15 on the list

RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada head men's basketball coach Eric Musselman has been named a candidate for the Werner Ladder Naismith Men's College Coach of the Year as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.  Musselman is one of 15 coaches on the list.

Musselman has led the Wolf Pack to a 25-2 record this season and has the team on top of the Mountain West standings with a 12-2 record.  The Pack has appeared in the top 25 all season and in the last 22 weeks dating back to last season.  Nevada is currently 12th in the Associated Press poll and 13th in the USA Today Coaches poll.  The Pack appeared in the top 10 the first 16 weeks of the season reaching as high as fifth in both polls.

In the Pack's win 100-60 win over Colorado State, the fourth year head coach recorded his 100th win and became the fastest coach in MW history accomplishing the feat in just 130 games.  Musselman was the 27th fastest in NCAA history to 100 wins and in the last 50 years is the 10th fastest to 100 victories.

Musselman is now 106-31 at Nevada with winning percentage of .774, the highest of any Wolf Pack coach and is fourth among active Division I coaches.   Just six coaches in school history have won 100 games.

Each of his Nevada teams have won 24 or more games.  Musselman along with Mark Fox are the only two coaches in Pack history to win 20 or more games in their first four seasons at Nevada.

Last season he led the Pack to a 29-5 record and Nevada's second Sweet 16 appearance.  The 29 victories tied the school record.  Nevada has won the last two MW regular season titles and is just the second conference school to accomplish the feat.
