Caroline and Caleb Martin named to Citizen Naismith Trophy midseason team

30 player from 23 colleges

RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada seniors Jordan Caroline and Caleb Martin have been named to the Citizen Naismith Trophy midseason team announced today by the Atlanta Tipoff Club, the field has been narrowed to 30 players from 23 colleges that are vying for the player of the year honor.  The Wolf Pack duo are the only two players from the Mountain West and Nevada is one of seven schools with two representatives on the list.   

They have helped the Pack to a 23-1 record and a Mountain West leading 10-1 mark.  The Pack have appeared in the top 10 all season reaching as high as fifth in both major polls.  The 23-1 mark is the best in school history after 24 games and is tied for the best mark in MW history after 24 games.
 
The 6-7 teammates have combined to win seven Mountain Player of the Week honors, four for Caroline and three by Martin.  Both were named to the MW preseason team and Martin was selected as the preseason conference player of the year after earning the postseason honor last season.
 
Caroline is averaging a double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 10.1rebounds per game.  His 15 double-doubles is seventh in Division 1 and 42 career double-doubles since coming to Nevada is a MW record.  Caroline ranks eighth at Nevada with his 1,637 points and is seventh with 882 rebounds.   Caroline has scored 1,940 points and grabbed 1,088 points in his college career which includes his time at Southern Illinois.  In 13 games he has topped Nevada in scoring and nine times it was a game high.  In 20 games he has led the Pack in rebounding and 15 times recorded a game high.  In all 23 games he has scored in double figures.  At Colorado State he scored season-high 40 points which is the high for player in the MW this season.
 
Martin is averaging a team-high 19.3 points per game and has 13 games 20 or more points.   At Utah he scored a career-high 33 points and had 30 in the Pack's home win over Boise State.  His 1,143 points at Nevada is tied for 21st and including his time at North Carolina State has scored 1,694 points in his college career.  In 10 games he has led the Pack in scoring and eight times posted a game high.  In 22 games he has scored in double figures this season.
