The University of Nevada women's tennis team concluded the fall schedule hosting the Wolf Pack Invitational the first weekend of November. It was the first fall event held at the McArthur Tennis Center. The Pack went 35-1 in the home event, 23-1 in singles play and 12-0 in doubles competition. In addition to the Wolf Pack Invitational the team competed at the Cal Fall Invitational and the ITA Mountain Regional in Las Vegas.
The young Wolf Pack team is comprised of five freshmen, two sophomores and one junior.
Junior
Anastaysha Gorbacheva had an outstanding fall posting a 10-1 record. Gorbacheva ended the fall winning her last eight matches. In Las Vegas she reached the semifinals of the B singles.
Sophomore
Selina Turulja posted a 7-3 record in the fall and was 7-2 in doubles play. Turulja has won her last four singles matches and last five doubles matches.
One of the freshmen,
Liza Mintusova went 6-3 in her first college tennis tournaments and was 6-2 in doubles action. Mintusova has won her last four singles matches and last four doubles outings.
Another of the freshmen,
Carla Del Barrio was 5-3 in singles action and 6-3 in doubles pairings. The Vigo, Spain native has won her last five singles matches and last three doubles matches.
Freshman
Arina Gumerova also had a solid fall going 5-4 in singles competition and 6-2 in doubles matches. Gumerova is a winner of her last four singles outings and last three doubles matches.
Moscow, Russian freshman
Anastasia Luneva won four of her six tournament matches to got 4-2 and posted a 5-4 record in doubles play. She will take a four-match doubles win streak into the spring.
Ksenia Shikanova found success in her first college tournament reaching the semifinals of the white bracket at the Cal Fall Invitational. In singles action she was 3-3 and 6-2 in doubles play. She will also takes a four-match doubles win streak in the spring.
Sophomore Roos van Reek put together a 2-3 singles record and went 6-2 in doubles competition. van Reek has won her last four doubles matches and last two singles matches.
The Pack returns to action Jan. 16-18 with a three-match trip to California to play UC San Diego, San Diego and Point Loma.
