RENO, Nev. - Camryn Rocha,
Ryan Blackwood and
Dalyn Burns played in their final match on Saturday afternoon after being recognized as graduating seniors. It was a tough matchup with No. 11 Colorado State and ultimately Nevada fell in three-sets but the Pack finished its season with a winning overall record of 17-13.
Camryn Rocha posted five kills with
Ryan Blackwood having three digs and
Dalyn Burns accounting for 10 assists.
Kayla Afoa and
Brianna Souza led the team with six kills each while Afoa finished with 10 digs, just two shy of 1,000 on her career. Burns finished her career with over 3,000 assists for just the fifth time in program history; she also moved into fifth in all-time assists.
In the first set, Nevada scored the first two points and followed with a third to go up 3-1 on the Rams. The Pack held on to the lead until the Rams went on a scoring run to tie it up, 10-10 and maintain the lead going into the media timeout, 15-12. Following the media timeout the Pack had a big block by Rocha and Souza but the momentum stayed with the Rams. A 4-0 scoring run forced Colorado State to call a timeout, only leading by three, 21-18, and it helped as the Rams went on to take the set, 25-20.
The Pack once again took the first two points of the second set and took a significant lead, 8-4, early in the set. After back and forth points the Rams rattled off three straight and only trailed by one at the media timeout, 15-14 in favor of Nevada. Once again, the Rams pulled the momentum in their favor and took the lead out of the timeout and went on a 10-0 scoring run to finish the set, 25-16.
Colorado State took the first point of the third set and took the 4-0 lead to start out. Nevada strung together four points to tie it up, 4-4 before the Rams recaptured the lead, 8-4. Colorado State led at the media, 15-10 and followed with a 5-2 run forcing
Lee Nelson to call timeout trailing, 20-12. It was all Rams after that as the team combined for four kills and the match, 25-16.
