Nevada hits the road again for two matches

RENO, Nev. - The Nevada volleyball team is headed back on the road for two matches before returning to Virginia Street Gym for Halloween. First up for the Pack is the Cowgirls of Wyoming on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5:30 pm PT before a match up with nationally-ranked No. 14 Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo. on Saturday, Oct. 26th at Noon PT. 

Last week, Nevada fell to New Mexico and UNLV in five and four set matches to conclude the four-match home stand. Senior setter, Dalyn Burns recorded back-to-back double double on the week while moving herself up in the all-time rankings to fifth for all-time assists. Kayla Afoa tallied another double-double against UNLV while maintaining her lead in the Mountain West in attacks. 

Wyoming is currently sitting in second place in the Mountain West with a record of 7-1, the Cowgirls lone loss was to Colorado State in Laramie in five sets.  The Cowgirls are led by Jackie McBride who leads the team with a .356 hitting percentage with 195 kills, and 94 blocks. Faith Waitsman is second on the team in blocks with 57 while Mackenzie Coastes leads in assists with 493. 

No. 14 Colorado State is still perfect in Mountain West play at 8-0 along with an 18-1 overall record. The Rams are lead by Brenna Runnels who has 249 kills for 3.72 per set while also leading in points with 291.5. On defense, Paulina Hougaard-Jensen has the highest number of blocks with 97.0. 

Colorado State currently leads the Mountain West in hitting percentage along with the lowest opponent hitting percentage while Nevada is second in the lowest opponent hitting percentage and sixth in overall hitting percentage. Wyoming is middle of the pack in just about every category with the highest conference ranking of fourth in kills as a team. 

Following these two matches on the road, the Pack has now competed against every team in the Mountain West. The Wolf Pack will return to Reno to host Utah State on Oct. 31 at 6 pm before Boise State arrives for a Nov. 2 match at 11:00 am PT.
