Box Score ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) No. 6 Nevada was shut down by New Mexico and Anthony Mathis scored 27 points to help the Lobos hand the Wolf Pack their first loss of the season with an 85-58 victory on Saturday night.
High-scoring Nevada (14-1, 1-1 Mountain West) shot just 33.3 percent (19 for 57) from the field and committed 14 turnovers. The Wolf Pack also went 16 for 27 at the free-throw line.
While Nevada flopped, New Mexico rolled to its most impressive win of the season.
Vance Jackson had 18 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals for the Lobos (8-6, 2-0). Makuach Maluach scored 14 points, and Carlton Bragg had nine points and 12 rebounds.
Jordan Caroline scored 17 for the Wolf Pack, who looked out of sorts throughout the game. Brothers Caleb and Cody Martin combined to go 4 for 21 from the field for 17 points.
New Mexico grabbed control with an early 20-6 run. The stretch featured 3-pointers from Jackson and Dane Kuiper as well as a resounding windmill dunk by Bragg that energized the crowd.
The Lobos ran their lead out to 67-45 after 3-pointers from Maluach and Mathis with seven minutes left. Fans stormed the court to celebrate after it was over.
BIG PICTURE
Nevada's 14-0 start equaled the best in school history. The loss likely will drop the Wolf Pack at least several spots in the rankings, possibly behind two-loss teams Gonzaga and Michigan State.
Coming into the night, New Mexico had lost three of four at home, but had beaten the Wolf Pack three out of four meetings in the Pit. Nevada, however, had won the previous four in the series - one in Albuquerque, two in Reno and once in the conference tournament.

Nevada hosts San Jose State on Wednesday.
New Mexico is home on Tuesday against UNLV.

No. 5/6 Nevada (14-1, 1-1 MW) lost for the first time this season falling 85-58 at New Mexico (8-6, 2-0 MW) at the Pit in Albuquerque, N.M. tonight.
The Wolf Pack hosts San Jose State (3-10, 0-1 MW) on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Lawlor Events Center.
Nevada was outrebounded by a season-high 10, 47-37 tonight. The Pack has been outrebounded the last five games and in six of the last seven.
The 58 points scored is a season low as was the 33.3 field goal percentage, 19 made field goals and 59.3 percent at the free throw line.
The 58 points is the lowest pointotal since the Pack scored 57 in a 74-57 loss at Utah State on Feb. 1, 2017.
The 27-point loss is the largest MW loss since the Pack fell 78-46 at Boise State on Feb. 21, 2015 and the largest loss since Nevada lost 98-69 at Wichita State on Dec. 22, 2015.
The Pack lost for the first time in the last five meetings vs. the Lobos.
Fourth year head Eric Musselman is now 95-30 at Nevada and 40-16 in MW play.
Jordan Caroline led the Pack with 17 points and eight rebounds. Caroline has scored in double figures in all 15 games this season.
Caroline moved past Armon Johnson (2007-10) for 11th in Nevada history in scoring, currently he has 1,455 points at Nevada.
For the second game in a row Caleb Martin did not score in double figures finishing with eight on the night. He had scored in double figures in the first 13 games of the season.
Caleb Martin scored his 1,500th collegiate point tonight which includes his 551 points at North Carolina State.
Jazz Johnson was 3-for-4 at the free throw line and had his streak of 29 consecutive made free throws snapped.
Johnson scored his 900th collegiate point in the game of which 740 came at Portland.
