PHOENIX – The University of Nevada women's tennis won two matches on Saturday to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Wolf Pack started the day with a 4-0 win over Arizona Christian and closed out with a 4-3 victory over Grand Canyon (2-2) at the GCU Tennis Courts.
Nevada concludes the three match trip to Phoenix versus Southern Utah (0-3) on Sunday at 9 a.m. PT. The Thunderbirds fell to GCU 5-2 on Friday.
In the ACU match the Pack won all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day.
Selina Turulja and Maria Tatarnkova scored a 6-1 victory on court three to earn the point.
Nevada won the first three completed singles matches in straight sets to secure the victory. Melissa Hutchet was victorious 6-1, 6-0 over Tia Okano on court 1.
Anastaysha Gorbacheva planked Gabby Gutierrez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and it was 3-0 Pack. Turulja clinched the match on court 3 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
In the second match of the day the Pack got the first point, winning the No. 2 and 3 doubles.
Adriana Gergelyova and
Roos van Reek scored a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles and Turulja teamed with
Maria Tatarnikova to clinch the point with a 6-2 victory on court three.
With the match tied at 3-3 Gergelyova won a three set match on court 3 to clinch the victory for the Pack. She won 6-4, 6-7 (3-7) and 6-2 over GCU's Celina Buhr.
Tatarnikova put the Pack up 2-0 after her 7-6, 6-0 victory on court 6. GCU won the next two completed matches at No. 4 and 1 singles to even the score at 2-2.
Turulja put the Pack back on top with a 6-2, 6-4 victory on court 5 over Ludovica Infantino. GCU once again tied the score with a 7-5, 7-5 win by Martina Lo Pumo at No. 2 singles over the Pack's Huchet. Gergelyova's victory on court 3 moved the Pack to 4-0 on the season.
