Nevada falls in home contest against Boise State

RENO, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack (7-7, 0-3) dropped its second home match of the season on Thursday night as the Boise State Broncos (10-4, 2-1) defeated the Pack in three sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-19).

Kayla Afoa and Camryn Rocha lead the team offensively with seven kills each while Jamila Minor followed with six. Dalyn Burns notched 23 assists with seven digs while Minor led with nine.

In the first set the Pack had an early lead, 7-1 after a Minor kill from Burns and maintained the lead throughout the first half of the set. The Broncos tied it up 12-12 after three kills in a row and held the Pack to just two more points the rest of the set, taking it 25-14.

Nevada again took an early lead, 4-1 in the second set and held on until an attack error allowed Boise State to tie it up 5-5. The Pack took back the lead, 14-9 on a Shiloh Peleras kill but again the Broncos came back to take the set, 25-22.

The third set started just like the following two. The Pack went up 5-1 with a kill from redshirt freshman Hailey Maniglia and Afoa early on but three kills and two Nevada errors let the Broncos catch up and take the lead, 9-8. It was a back-and-forth fight with the score being tied four times. Ultimately Boise State ended up on top, 25-19.

Nevada returns to Virginia Street Gym on Saturday as the Pack hosts Utah State, Sept. 29 at 1:00 p.m. PT. Tickets are on sale at NevadaWolfPack.com
