Woody Barry is the winner of the 2018 Nevada Athletics Silver and Blue Service Award.
The Silver and Blue Service Award honors individuals who have volunteered their time and efforts in all support areas to help Wolf Pack Athletics over the years. Any person who has volunteered in any capacity is eligible for this award.
A fixture at Wolf Pack games, Barry has served as the baseball official scorer for more than 25 years. He has also hosted the officials at Nevada football and basketball games for over 20 seasons.
He was instrumental in helping Nevada get turf installed at Peccole Park prior to the 2006 season and helps run the annual Joshua L. Anderson Tournament which provides college scholarships for Northern Nevada high school baseball and softball players.
Barry, his wife, Michele, and both sons Sean and Mike graduated from the University of Nevada. Barry worked at the Bureau of Mines on campus and then worked as a facilities coordinator in the athletics department.
Barry and the seven inductees in this year's Hall of Fame class will be recognized at the annual Hall of Fame Dinner on Friday, Sept. 14 at the Reno Ballroom. Cocktails will start at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the program at 6:30 p.m.
