RENO, Nev. – The Nevada volleyball team (2-1) fell in three straight sets to the UC Davis Aggies (3-0) Saturday evening by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-16.
Sophomore
Sam Hayward led the Wolf Pack on offense with 10 kills. Junior
Dalyn Burns had a team-high nine digs along with an ace. Fellow junior
Jamila Minor and sophomore
Ashley Maki also recorded an ace on the night.
The first two sets went UC Davis's way as the Aggies secured the first set 25-17 and the second 25-16.
Set three was a slightly different story as Nevada seemed to find some offense. The Pack tied it up 10-10, following a three point run and a kill from
Kayla Afoa forced the Aggies to call timeout. The Wolf Pack continued to hang on within two points but the Aggies offense went on a seven point run ultimately edging the defense out and taking set three, 25-16 and the match 3-0.
The Wolf Pack continues its road swing next weekend, Aug 31, to take part in the Northern Illinois Tournament. The University of Virginia is first on the schedule with a first serve time of 8 a.m. PT.
