RENO, Nev. – The 2017 Nevada Athletics Hall of Fame class was announced today and features two All-Americans and four inductees who went on to also enjoy professional careers after their standout collegiate careers for the Wolf Pack.
The class consists of: Kali Baker Bennett – Cross Country, Track & Field (2002-07); Laura Bartle Jacobsen – Swimming (1997-2000); Nick Fazekas – Men's Basketball (2004-07); Brett Hayes – Baseball (2003-05); Jeff Rowe – Football (2002-06); Ramon Sessions – Men's Basketball (2005-07).
"This year's class of inductees represents some of the greatest moments and achievements in our department's history," athletics director
Doug Knuth said. "We are very excited to welcome them back to campus this fall to honor all of their accomplishments."
The Hall of Fame dinner is set for Friday, Sept. 15 at the Reno Ballroom. Cocktails will start at 6 p.m. with the induction ceremony to follow. The dinner is open to the public and tickets are $60 per person. For more information, call (775) 682-6901.

2017 Nevada Hall of Fame Inductees
Kali Baker – Cross Country, Track & Field (2002-07)
Earned All-America honors with an eighth place finish in the mile at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Championships… was the first indoor track and field All-American in school history… made three NCAA appearances… earned All-WAC honors in cross country, indoor and outdoor track in each season she competed… was a member of all three of Nevada's WAC championship teams (indoor track and field - 2003 & 2004, cross country - 2004)… earned Academic All-WAC and United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Academic honors… was Outstanding Performer at the 2006 WAC Indoor Championships…  won the Ruth Russell Award as Nevada's top female senior in 2007… won a total of seven WAC medals, including four individual wins and a relay team victory… still holds school records in the mile and indoor and outdoor 800 meters.Â
Laura Bartle – Swimming (1997-2000)
Earned nine All-America certificates as a member of Nevada's relay teams… part of the team that still holds the school record for the 200 freestyle relay… was part of the 400 free relay team that held the school record until 2015… won 14 Big West championships as a member of relay teams… also won individual Big West titles in the 200 freestyle in 2000 and the 100 fly in 1998.
Nick Fazekas – Men's Basketball (2004-07)
Was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in each of his last three seasons, becoming the second player in league history to earn the award three consecutive years… earned All-America honors in each of his last three seasons (first team by ESPN.com, USBWA and SI.com as a senior)… three-time All-WAC selection... also earned WAC All-Newcomer honors as a freshman… helped lead Nevada to four consecutive WAC regular-season titles and NCAA Tournament berths… was joined by fellow senior Kyle Shiloh as the winningest player in school history with a 106-27 record in his four years at Nevada… finished his career as Nevada's all-time leader in scoring (2,464), blocked shots (192), field goals (901) and free throws made (546) and was second in career rebounding (1,254)… ranks in the career top 10 for field goal and free throw percentage… was just the sixth player in the history of NCAA basketball to score 2,000 points, pull down 1,000 rebounds, shoot 50 percent from the field and shoot 80 percent from the free throw line… 34th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks… saw time in the NBA with the Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers in 2007-08… has played for the Toshiba Brave Thunders Kanagawa since 2012, earning league MVP honors and winning multiple championships.
Brett Hayes – Baseball (2003-05)
Played three seasons at catcher before getting drafted... was named as the WAC Freshman of the Year in 2003 and earned first-team All-WAC honors in 2004 and 2005…also earned Freshman All-America honors from Louisville Slugger in 2003…hit .365 as a freshman with eight homers and 63 RBI, .337 as a sophomore with eight homers and 48 RBI and .313 as a junior with six homers and 45 RBI…hit 42 doubles in his three seasons and stole 18 bases…ranks 10th in career at-bats (699) and hits (237) and tied for 10th in career RBI (156)…was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the second round in 2005…made his Major League debut with the Marlins on May 22, 2009…has played in the Major Leagues for the past seven seasons with the Marlins, Royals and Indians.
Jeff Rowe – Football (2002-06)
A four-year starter at quarterback… earned second-team All-WAC honors in 2005… still ranks in the Nevada career top 10 for passing yards, touchdowns, attempts and completions… helped lead the Wolf Pack to its first Western Athletic Conference title in 2005 as well as a pair of bowl game appearances in 2005 and 2006… was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year in 2005 and won the Golden Helmet Award as the team's MVP in 2006… helped establish Chris Ault's Pistol offense as the first quarterback to run the scheme ... was named Offensive MVP of the 2006 East-West Shrine Game… was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft and played for four years, spending time with the Bengals, the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.
Ramon Sessions – Men's Basketball (2005-07)
Earned second-team All-WAC honors in 2007… was also one of 17 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, which is given to the top point guard in the nation… was also named the 2005 WAC Freshman of the Year... helped Nevada to Western Athletic Conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his three seasons at Nevada from 2004-07… averaged 12.3 points and 4.7 assists per game in 2007… led the Wolf Pack in assists in each of his three years at Nevada and finished his career ranked second in the Nevada career record book with 478 assists… started 94 of 97 career games at point guard at Nevada before leaving school after his junior year to enter the NBA Draft… was taken by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 56th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft… has played 11 seasons in the NBA with the Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Bobcats, Sacramento Kings, Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets… has remained active in the Reno community, returning each year to host a basketball camp… has also made the lead donation for Nevada's basketball practice facility in the Lombardi Rec Center.
