Wolf Pack finishes 10th in NCAA Mountain Regionals

Dobbs takes 21st

PROVO, Utah.  – The Nevada cross country team finished 10th in today's NCAA Mountain Regionals. Junior Hiley Dobbs led the way with a 21st place finish.

"We had some great individual performances," said head coach Kirk Elias. "Our depth took its toll as a team, however."

Dobbs earned a 21st place finish in the 136-person race with a time of 20:30, which is just a second slower than her personal best of 20:29. Finishing in second for the Pack was junior Stefanie Ortega, who clocked a time of 21:01, good for 36th and just eight seconds behind her personal best of 20:53.

Lindsey Sickler took 51st with a time of 21:18, followed by Melendrez with a time of 21:36 to finish 73rd. The finish shaved 15 seconds off of Melendrez' personal best, and moved her into a tie for 12th all time at Nevada, and third on the all time freshman list.

"She had a fabulous race," Elias said of Melendrez. "She was dialed in."

Freshman Tabatha Walford was the last scorer for Nevada, clocking in at 104th with a time of 22:13. Junior Shannon Palladino finished 121st with a time of 22:43.
