SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Nevada women's tennis team concluded the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational and fall season today with a 4-2 singles victory over Santa Clara. The Wolf Pack fell 2-1 to San Francisco in doubles action.
Leading the way for the Pack was
Anastaysha Gorbacheva, who moved to a perfect 3-0 in singles during the three-day tournament. Gorbacheva topped Santa Clara's Lindsey Pesqueria 6-2, 6-3.
Selina Turulja,
Melissa Huchet and
Marta Ruedas all won as well. Turulja defeated Nadine Del Carmen 6-1, 6-4, Huchet earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Caitlyn Frankel and Ruedas topped Katya Tabachnik 7(4)-6, 7-5.
Adriana Gergelyova fell 7-5, 6-4 to Elvena Gevargiz, and
Maria Tatarnikova lost 6-2, 6-2 at the hands of Jamie Schroer.
In doubles, Tatarnikova and Turulja defeated a split duo of San Francisco's Amber Del Rosario and San José State's Kristina Baran 6-0. Ruedas and Gorbacheva were defeated by San Francisco's Mya Bui and Emily Maxfield 6-3. Huchet and Gergelyova fell 6-3 at the hands of San Francisco's Hanna Borjeson and Rita Colyer.
This was the final competition of the Wolf Pack's 2018 fall schedule. The team will be back in action on Jan. 18 when they open the spring 2019 season at UC San Diego.
