FRESNO, Calif. - The Nevada volleyball team dropped the season finale match against Fresno State on Saturday afternoon in three sets. The Pack finished the season 8-21 overall and 1-17 in conference play.
Kayla Afoa lead the Pack with yet another double-double, her 16th of the year, with 12 kills and 10 digs. On offense, Sam Hayward had nine kills on 20 attempts for a team high .400 hitting percentage. Dalyn Burns hit for .500 as a setter with three kills while posting 22 assists and seven digs.
Nevada struggled to find its rhythm on offense and even on defense, only combining for one total block in the game. The Pack combined for just 35 points while the Bulldogs put together 64.
In the first set, the teams managed to keep it within two or three for the entirety of the set. Afoa and Hayward both had four kills in the first contest and the team had a.250 hitting percentage to go along with the 15 total kills but the Bulldogs just out powered the Pack at the end.
Fresno State took over in the second set with a .355 hitting percentage while the Pack struggled to stay in the positive. However in the third, Nevada strung together a few scoring runs to keep it within reach, with the help of a match high, .290 hitting percentage but on senior night for the Bulldogs, they took the set, 25-19 and the match.
