LOGAN, Utah. – The Nevada volleyball team fell to Utah State on Saturday evening in three straight sets. The Pack moves to 8-15, 1-11 on the year.
Junior outside hitter Camryn Rocha led the team with 12 kills while sporting a .320. Rocha also recorded four block assists along with redshirt freshman Hailey Maniglia. The middle blocker notched six kills to go along with her four block assists.
Sophomore McKayla Wuensch and junior Dalyn Burns split time at setter with Burns having 19 assists and Wuensch 15. The lone senior, Mo Maluotoga, had the only ace for the Pack while also having seven digs.
In the first set, neither team went on a scoring run or scored more than two points in a row, to go along with the 14 ties and three lead changes. The Pack tied it up 21-21 on a Maniglia kill but the Aggies held on to take the set, 25-23.
The second set saw a significantly less amount of ties and lead changes with only one change happening and three ties. Utah State took an early lead, 7-4 but a Sam Hayward kill tied it up 17-17. The Aggies rattled off six of the last eight points to seal the set, 25-19.
Nevada had the lead, 3-1 in the third set but back-to-back errors allowed Utah State to catch up and tie it 3-3 early on. The Aggies continued to lead throughout the middle of the set but a three-scoring run allowed the Pack to cut the lead to one, 16-15. Utah State then turned around and had a four point run and took the lead 22-17 and they maintained the lead until the end where they took the set 25-22 and the match, 3-0.
