LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Nevada men's tennis team completed its second day at the ITA Mountain Regional tournament in Las Vegas. Julian Evrard went 3-0 on the day, advancing to the round of 16 in both the singles and doubles brackets.
Evrard opened his day going 2-0 in singles play, with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory over Jonathan Morales of Southern Utah in the round of 64. Then in the round of 32, Evrard topped Randy Cory of Utah, with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
Evrard was one of four Nevada players to advance out of the first round of the bracket.
Matvey Radionov won his first round 6-4, 6-2 over Boise State's Wyatt DeMulling.
Jeremy Merville won 7-6, 7-6 over Denver's Matt Summers, and
Kostya Nesterenko topped New Mexico State's Stijin Dehaan 6-3, 5-7, 7-6.
Daniel Dudockin dropped his first round match 7-6, 6-3 to Utah's Svyatoslav Shainyan. In the singles consolation bracket, Dudockin dropped his match with UNLV's Eric Samuelsson 6-3, 6-4.
Radionov, Merville and Nesterenko all dropped their round of 32 matches. Radionov fell 7-6, 6-4, Merville fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 and Nesterenko dropped his match by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.
In the doubles bracket, Evrard again advanced. Paired with Nesterenko, the duo topped a pairing from New Mexico 8-2. Nevada's pairing of Dudockin and Aremon lost to a duo from Denver, 8-5. Radionov and Merville fell as well, 8-4 to a pair from Utah State.
Tomorrow in the doubles round of 16, Evrard/Nesterenko will face a duo from New Mexico State at 9 a.m. After that, Evrard will face Isaac Arevalo of Utah State in the singles round of 16 at 10 a.m. In the doubles consolation bracket, Dudockin/Aremon and Radionov/Merville will kick off the round of 16 at 9 a.m.
