RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada women's soccer team (1-6-0) was defeated at Eastern Washington (5-4-0) by a score of 4-0 on Friday afternoon. The Wolf Pack will travel to face Idaho on Sunday for its last non-conference opponent of the season.
Both teams started off strong defensively, with only two shots total in the first 20 minutes of play. Alexis Stephenson would break the 0-0 tie just before the 30 minute mark when she drilled a shot into the Nevada goal after a good cross by the Eagles. Just minutes later, Jenny Chavez would capitalize on a penalty kick and Eastern Washington would head into the half with a 2-0 lead over the Pack.
In the second half, the Eagles scored twice in the first 15 minutes including Stephenson's second of the game to give Eastern Washington a 4-0 lead, which they would hold until the end of the match. The Pack ended the day with three shots, and goalkeeper Lauryn Horstdaniel made two saves in goal for Nevada.
Angel Meriwether, Morgan Beye, Katie Prosser, Bryanna Wiehe and freshmen Tiana Ono and Rylie West all played the full 90 minutes in the match. Meriwether, Torres and Beye each recorded one shot, with Torres' going on goal.
