Day two results
STANFORD, Calif. - The Nevada men's golf team jumped six spots on day two of The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford.
The Wolf Pack shaved eight shots off its team score from round one, going from a 302 on Thursday to a 294 on Friday. Nevada, which began the day in 22nd place in the 24-team field, is now tied for 16th heading into Saturday's final round. Tournament host Stanford continues to lead and but is just one shot ahead of the nation's No. 1 team, USC. For the tournament, none of the 24 teams are under par.
Nevada got a solid performance from sophomore Travis Fredborg on Friday as he posted the only under par score for the Pack thus far. Fredborg jumped 33 positions during his second round thanks to his 1-under 69. He collected five birdies in his round, including four on the back nine. He enters the third and final round tied for 14th place at 3-over.
Junior Grant Booth also improved his game on Friday and carded a 2-over 72. He sits at 6-over par for the tournament and is tied for 30th. Classmate Corey Eddings fired a 76 for his second round and is tied for 74th place. Junior Kaleb Gorbahn shot a 78 this afternoon and is tied for 110th, while senior Nick Fuller improved his game by five strokes to card a 77 and is tied for 118th.
Rhett Rasmussen of Brigham Young is the clubhouse leader after 36 holes at 4-under par. He leads four players tied for second by two shots. Just six competitors in the 126-player field are currently under par.
Nevada will conclude The Goodwin with the third round on Saturday.
