Zheng sweeps events at NAU Diving Invitational

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Nevada senior Sharae Zheng won her second event in as many days at the NAU Diving Invitational, coming out on top of the 3-meter springboard. With the win, Zheng continues one of the most unparalleled streaks in Nevada history as she has now won every single regular season event she has competed in since Jan. 23, 2016.

She began the day by winning the preliminary rounds with a score of 356.35, helping put herself in good position for the finals. Following her first place finish in the morning session, Zheng then followed that performance with a victory in the finals, scoring 785.50 points, which was nearly 100 points better than the second place diver.

Junior Toma Shmitova also competed in 3-meter springboard, where she placed in the top 10 in both the preliminary and final rounds. After she scored a 274.65 to begin the day, Shmitova improved her standing in the final, receiving 589.65 points to place sixth in the event. Her junior counterpart Sio I Lei participated in the preliminary rounds, but fell short of qualifying for the finals.

Up next, the Wolf Pack will travel to Federal Way, Washington for the Husky Invitational Dec. 1-3 for the team's final event before the spring semester.
