School record 17 three-pointers keeps Pack unbeaten

Hall and Stephens combine for 45 points and 12 from behind the arc

STOCKTON, Calif.  – Three nights after making 15 pointers in a win at Santa Clara the University of Nevada (4-0) men's basketball team set the school record with 17 made 3-pointers in an 89-74 victory at Pacific (0-3) to improve to 4-0 on the season.   The previous record of 16 was set on Jan. 12, 2012 at home versus San Jose State.
 
The Wolf Pack is 4-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 team started the year 7-0.  Nevada returns home to host Davidson (2-0) on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
  
Nevada trailed by six points early but a 3-pointer by Caleb Martin put the Pack up 20-18 with 10:15 to play in the first half and they did no trail the rest of the game.  Nevada used a 24-10 run to end the first half and led by 13 at the break 41-28.  In the first half the Pack made 8-of-18 shots from behind the arc.
 
In the second half the Pack twice led by 25 points with the last occurrence coming with 3:42 to play and settled with a 15-point victory 89-74.  In the second half Nevada made 9-of-16 three-pointers.  Caleb Martin's third 3-pointer of the game with 4:15 to play was the record breaking basket.
 
Hall scored 11 points in the first half and increased it to 14 in the second to finish with a career and game-high 25 points.  He made 7-of-10 three-pointers, 8-of-12 from the field and both free throw shots on the night.  Stephens connected on 5-of-10 three-pointers, 6-of-11 from the field and all three free throws to account for his 20 points.
  
Jordan Caroline posted his 16th career double-double and second in the last three games finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Caleb Martin had 15 points and twin brother Cody 13 as five Nevada players scored in double figures for the first time this season.

 
Game notes:
 
Nevada is 4-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season when the Pack started the year 7-0.
 
Head coach Eric Musselman is 4-0 to start a season for the first time at Nevada and improved to 56-21 leading the Wolf Pack.
 
Musselman is 3-0 against Pacific.
 
Nevada made a school record 17 (34 attempts) three-points in the win over Pacific.
 
In the last two games Nevada has made 32-of-64 three-pointers.
 
Josh Hall scored a career-high 25 points and made 7-of-10 three-pointers.
 
Kendall Stephens had a career-high 20 points and made 5-of-10 three-point shots.
 
Jordan Caroline recorded his 16th career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.  It was his second double-double in the last three games.
 
Nevada had five players score in double figures tonight.  In addition to Hall, Stephens and Caroline; Caleb Martin (15 pts) and Cody Martin (13 pts) also reached double digits.
 
Caroline has started 38 consecutive games.
 
Cody Martin and Caroline have scored in double figures in all four games this season.
