RENO, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball team (9-19, 7-9 MW) fell in three straight sets to the Wyoming Cowgirls (16-12, 11-5 MW) Saturday morning by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-18.
Sophomore
Shayla Hoeft led the Wolf Pack offense with 11 kills. Fellow sophomore
Ayla Fresenius had a team-high 11 digs.
The first two sets went Wyoming's way as the Cowgirls won frame one 25-20 and frame two 25-17.
Set three was a much different story from the first two as the Wolf Pack seemed to find its offense. Nevada came out of the gates to tie things up at four each. The Pack continued to hang on to within a point at 14-13 behind an increased presence from Hoeft, whose swing attack permeated the Cowgirl defense. Wyoming would pull away, though, ending the set on a 11-5 run to take set three 25-18 and the match 3-0.
Just two matches are left on the docket for Nevada, including a match at Utah State on Thursday follow by senior day on Saturday vs. Boise State.
