SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Nevada men's tennis team finished its first day at the Utah Intercollegiate tournament on Friday. Junior Jonathan Aremon was victorious in both his singles and doubles matches.
Aremon teamed up with freshman Dylan Levitt to defeat Felipe Acosta and Aditya Vashistha of Utah State 6-2 in Flight D doubles. Senior Peter O'Donovan and freshman Jeremy Merville also earned a doubles victory, taking down Utah State's Andrew Nakajima and Austin Bass 7-5 in Flight C.
In singles play, Merville earned a victory against the University of Utah's Joe Woolley by a score of 7-6, 6-3 and 7-6 in Flight B. Aremon continued his good day by defeating Utah's Randy Cory in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
Senior Robert Margitfalvi and sophomore Kostya Nesterenko both fell in Flight A singles on Friday, but will have a chance to bounce back with two matches each on Saturday.
