Nevada finishes season with loss at UNLV

Flynn enters record book with 14 saves

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The 2017 season has come to an end for the Nevada women's soccer team (1-18-0, 0-11-0 MW) after losing to the UNLV Rebels (12-7-0, 4-6-0 MW) at Las Vegas on Friday Night by a score of 5-0. Freshman goalkeeper Jamie Flynn recorded 14 saves, tied for second most in a single match in Nevada history.

Flynn was busy early, making eight saves in the first half. She finished the match with 14, tying Megan Tarpenning who accomplished the same feat in 2003. Tarpenning also holds the record for most saves in a match, recording 16 in 2002.

The Rebels scored three of their five goals in the first half, with Sophie Cortes scoring two in the first 20 minutes. The senior would complete her hat trick in the 89th minute, and led UNLV with 14 shots, seven of which went on goal.

Juniors Lauren Woodyard and Angel Meriwether and redshirt freshman Carrington Tolliver each recorded a shot for Nevada. Tolliver's shot was the only one that went on goal for Nevada. UNLV finished the match with 37. The Rebels also secured three points in the Governor's Series.

The Wolf Pack will miss the conference tournament, as only the six Mountain West teams with the best records in conference will begin play on Tuesday in Las Vegas.
