Following a career performance at New Mexico Saturday night, sophomore Jordan Caroline earned several honors on a national and conference level.
As the weekly awards came out Monday morning, Caroline was named the Mountain West Player of the Week, the NBC Sports Player of the Week and College Sports Madness' High-Major Player of the week. The honors followed national attention to Caroline's big performance, including the game-winning three, in the Nevada win over New Mexico in the Pit.
Caroline racked up a career-high 45 points in the game, helping to lead the Pack back from a one time 25-point deficit. The sophomore's 45 points made an impact in some record books, the highest total by a sophomore in the Mountain West ever and the most by a Wolf Pack player since at least 1990. Caroline also tied for fourth in Mountain West history in a conference game. His 45 points are the third-most in Division I this year.
It marked the first time in the Musselman era a player earned national honors at such a level.
