Nevada soccer starting goalkeeper and team captain Kelsey Quintos was named Student-Athlete of the Month for her success on and off the field in September.
Quintos recently broke the career solo shutout record at Nevada when the team defeated Fresno State 1-0, giving Quinto's her 12th shutout. A few weeks prior, she was named MW Defensive Player of the Week, for the second time in her career, after shutting out the previously undefeated UC Irvine. Quintos currently has 48 saves for the season with a .842 save percentage.
In addition to being a leader on the field, Quintos has excelled academically. This past spring, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Science and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies with a cumulative GPA of 3.868. This fall, Quintos began her Master of Education in Educational Leadership. She was a four-time Silver and Blue Scholar and a Mountain West Scholar Athlete from 2013-15, and a Wolf Pack Female Scholar Athlete of the Year nominee for the 2015-16 academic year. She also earned Academic All-Conference honors in the Spring of 2016.
"I am excited and honored to have been selected as the Student-Athlete of the Month," said Quintos. "While winning games and breaking records on the field is a blast, success in the classroom has always been of the utmost importance to me. I take tremendous pride in my education and what my degree from the University of Nevada will do for me in the future. It is nice to be recognized for both sides of the hyphen as a student-athlete and it motivates me to continue to strive for success."
