After defeating Sacramento State yesterday, Nevada soccer returns home to play Portland State in Mackay Stadium this Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. The Wolf Pack has won the past two games, one on the road and one at home. With another win, the team would have their first 2-0 weekend this year.
Portland State currently leads the series winning the past four match ups. However, the last time these teams met was in 2011. Neither team's players have played their opponent at the collegiate level.
Regardless of if Nevada's opponent is familiar or new, the Pack looks to continue its upward trend. Friday's shutout against Sacramento State moved goalkeeper Kelsey Quintos up another spot on the all-time list at Nevada. Quintos is now tied for second with 10 solo shutouts, one away from tying the school record. As of Sept. 1, the Pack was ranked tenth in the conference standings. With possibly two wins this weekend, Nevada may find itself a few spots higher.
Next week, Nevada will travel to El Paso, Texas to play UTEP on Friday, Sept. 16 at 12 p.m. (PT). The next match at Mackay Stadium will be on Friday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
