RENO, Nev. - Senior local product Jeremy Macauley has been named to the watch list for The Wuerffel Trophy, which is awarded annually to the player that best combines community service with athletic and academic achievement.
A native of Sparks, Macauley is one of 88 players in FBS and one of four from the Mountain West to be named to the watch list. The Reed High graduate has played in 25 games with 23 starts in his Wolf Pack career. Macauley started at left guard in 11 games last season, helping block for two 1,000-yard running backs while Nevada ranked in the top 25 nationally in rushing.
Off the field, Macauley is a business management major at Nevada and an Academic All-MW honoree last season. Macauley has also coached and assisted with numerous youth football camps, has volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club and at local schools, and has assisted with various projects for Nevada's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Semifinalists for the Wuerffel Trophy award will be announced on Nov. 3 and finalists will be announced on Nov. 23. The winner of the award will be announced on Dec. 6 at the National Football Foundation's press conference in New York City.
