ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Nevada's offense erupted for 17 runs in a shootout victory at New Mexico on Saturday night at Santa Ana Star Field. The Wolf Pack (29-21, 17-9) scored nine runs in the final two innings to race past the Lobos in a 17-11 victory.

After dropping a one-run game Friday night to lose an 11-game win streak, the Wolf Pack's offense bounced back with a vengeance on Saturday to even the series. Nevada lit up the scoreboard with 17 runs, which matched a season-high, with 13 singles, one double and three home runs.

Sophomore TJ Friedl went 3-of-5 with three runs and one RBI, and junior Justin Bridgman went 2-of-4 with three RBI and two runs. Sophomore Cole Krzmarzick added two hits and four RBI while sophomore Jordan Pearce went 2-of-3 with two RBI and two runs. Junior Trenton Brooks, senior Justin Hazard and senior Bryce Greager each homered in Nevada's highest scoring game of the season.

The Wolf Pack opened an early 5-0 lead after three innings while Hazard hit his third home run of the season with a two-run shot in the second frame. The Lobos then rallied to the lead with seven runs in the bottom of the third.

Nevada tied the game at 7-7 in the fifth inning as Brooks and Greager each hit solo home runs, but UNM responded with two runs in its half of the inning to take a 9-7 lead. Both teams scored one run in the sixth and the Lobos scored one run in the seventh to take an 11-8 lead.

After loading the bases with no outs, the Wolf Pack rallied to the lead with a massive six-run inning. Friedl hit an RBI single and Bridgman followed with a two-RBI single to left field to tie the game. Krzmarzick drew a bases-loaded hit by pitch as Nevada took the lead and Pearce then drove in two runs with a single to center field to cap a six-run inning in the eighth.

The Pack kept its foot to the pedal in the ninth inning, plating three more runs to take a 17-11 lead and match a season-high in runs. Mastrobuoni drove in two runs with a single through the right side and Krzmarzick followed with an RBI single to score Mastrobuoni.

Nevada used six pitchers in the victory. Senior RHP Sam Held started and logged 2.1 innings. Senior RHP Alex Lott tallied his first win of the season after striking out two batters in the seventh. Junior RHP Evan McMahan then pitched two shutout innings to close the game and earn his sixth save of the season.

The Wolf Pack and Lobos will play a rubber match on Sunday at noon PT at Santa Ana Star Field in Albuquerque, N.M.
