Game Notes
RENO, Nev. - The Nevada softball team continues its six-game homestand this week when the Wolf Pack takes a break from Mountain West play to welcome Niagara for a three-game set.
The series will kick-off with a Friday doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. followed by a single-game on Saturday at 10 a.m. Nevada is 19-5 in non-conference play this season but split its only home non-conference games in a doubleheader against Sacramento State on March 16. Friday will mark the first games between the two programs.
Nevada sits in third in the Mountain West standings with a 6-3 record after taking two-out-of-three from New Mexico last weekend at Hixson Park. The Wolf Pack moved up to 73 in the national RPI rankings this week, the third best RPI in the MW behind Fresno State and San Diego State.
WOLF PACK WINS SERIES OVER THE LOBOS
• Nevada took two-out-of-three from New Mexico last week at Hixson Park, clinching its second MW series of the season.
• Jennifer Purcell tallied two home runs and four RBI over the three games while Megan Sweet recorded three RBI on four hits and Melissa Arriaga posted four hits.
• The Wolf Pack pitching staff did its job as Brooke Bolinger and McKenna Isenberg combined to allow only three earned runs in the three games.
GIBSON HITS FOR THE CYCLE IN SAN DIEGO
• Sophomore Aaliyah Gibson hit for the cycle in four at-bats in a 10-4 victory over San Diego State in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
• The Austin, Texas native became the first player in program to hit for the cycle while also setting a new career-high with six RBI.
• Gibson hit a home run, her third of the season, in her final at-bat.
• Gibson is now hitting .410 with three home runs, three triples and 20 RBI.
