Final results

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - After three days and 54 holes of golf, the Nevada women's golf team placed seventh at the 2016 Mountain West Championship.

The Wolf Pack carded its best round of the championship on Wednesday with a score of 305. With a three-day team score of 925 (310-310-305) the Wolf Pack secured the seventh position by one shot over Boise State. Nevada did boast however the third-best par 3 scoring of the tournament (3.18) just behind UNLV and San Jose State.

No. 17 UNLV captured the championship at 13-over par for the tournament, nine shots better than runner-up No. 22 San Diego State. The Rebels were the only team in the field of nine to shoot below 300 in each round. Additionally UNLV earns three points towards the Governor's Series for besting Nevada in the team standings.

Playing in her final collegiate event senior Caryn Khoo earned her best conference championship finish, a tie for 10th place. Khoo produced the best Wolf Pack round of the week with a 1-over 73 on the final day, making two birdies along the way. She finished in a three-way tie for 10th and fell 12 shots back from the individual champion. Khoo ranked at the top of the field in par 4 scoring (4.03) for the week and had the third-best par finishes.

Placing behind Khoo was her sister, Celyn Khoo who struggled on day three with a 6-over round of 78. She began the day tied for ninth but finished the championship in a tie for 17th. She did however tie for the tournament lead in par 3 scoring (3.00). The remaining three Wolf Pack players were competing in their first Mountain West Championship. Rookie Chaithra Katamneni improved each day and earned a tie for 33rd with an overall score of 235 (81-78-76). Junior Hannah Gregg placed 36th and freshman Kaitlin Collom tied for 40th.
