EL MACERO, Calif. - The Nevada men's golf team concluded their stay at the El Macero Classic Sunday afternoon with the third and final round and finished in 11th place.
The Wolf Pack played its way to a team score of 308 on Sunday, totaling 922 (316-298-308) for the weekend, 58-over par. Nevada edged Mountain West foe Air Force by one shot to stake 11th place in the 15-team field. The Pack also finished ahead of another MW opponent in Boise State, which placed 14th. Texas Tech led the tournament from start to finish to capture the team title by eight strokes over Oregon State despite the Beavers 6-under par third round.
Junior Nick Fuller did not shoot the low Wolf Pack round of the afternoon and did not see any red numbers on his scorecard on Sunday but earned the best overall finish among Nevada competitors. Fuller tied for 39th place in the 90-player field after totaling 228 for the weekend. Sophomore Corey Eddings matched Fuller's round of 77 on Sunday but finished one stroke behind his teammate to earn a tie for 42nd. Fellow sophomore David Hinitz, competing as an individual, had a rough final round shooting an 81. His tie for 53rd however is a career-best finish.
The low Wolf Pack round of the day belonged to sophomore Jooho Lee, a 4-over par 76. His three-day total of 232 gave him sole possession of 62nd place. Freshman Travis Fredborg and sophomore Grant Booth each rounded out the Pack roster, tying for 67th.
Ryan Books of TCU topped Oregon State's Kevin Murphy for the individual crown on a playoff hole. Both Books and Murphy finished at even par for the tournament. No players managed to stay under par for the duration of the three days.
