STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Nevada (4-9) men's tennis team lost 4-0 at #42 Stanford (7-6) in the first match of a scheduled doubleheader on Monday. The second match was canceled as a result of rain. The Wolf Pack dropped to 4-9 while the Cardinal improved to 7-6 on the season.
Nevada hosts UC Davis (13-3) on Saturday in the home opener. The match gets underway at 1 p.m. at Caughlin Club.
Stanford claimed the #1 and #3 doubles matches to clinch the first point of the day. Adrew Poustie and Mile Cilic fell 6-2 on court 1 and Ryan Andrada and Robert Margitfalvi lost 6-3 on the court 3.
The Cardinal won the #3, #4 and #5 singles matches in straight sets to earn the 4-0 victory. Cilic lost 6-2, 6-4 to Nolan Paige who entered the match ranked #84 by the ITA at #3 singles. Nevada's Robert Allan fell 6-2, 6-4 at #4 singles to Michael Genender. Maciek Romanowicz scored a 6-1, 6-2 victory over the Pack's Sandro Lena at #5 singles.
