Monday's Results
ROSEVILLE, Calif. - After 36 holes at the Sacramento State Invitational, the Nevada women's golf team sits in third place in the 15-team field.
The second round experienced a 45 minute rain delay but all 15 teams were able to complete both of their rounds before the daylight disappeared. The Wolf Pack compiled an opening round team score of 302 and followed that up with a 306 in round two. Its two-round total of 606 is five shots shy of second-place Santa Clara. San Francisco will take the lead into the final 18 holes after finishing as the only team under 600 (594).
The Dons hold the top-two individual spots as well with Alison Lillie and Vanessa Ha leading the way. Lillie is one-over par after shooting an even par 72 in the second round. Her two-round total of 145 is one shot better than her teammate.
For Nevada, it's a pair of young guns leading the Pack. Freshman Chaithra Katamneni is currently tied for fourth after rounds of 75 and 74 and is just four shots off the pace. The rookie sunk four birdies on the day, three of which came on the back-9 of her second round. Fellow freshman Kaitlin Collom is one shot behind Katamneni after she carded rounds of 73 and 77, and has sole possession of seventh in the 80-player field. Like Katamneni, Collom also posted four birdies on the day.
Elsewhere in the Pack lineup, senior Caryn Khoo sits in the top-20 with a combined score of 153 (77-76) and sister Celyn Khoo is tied for 27th with round of 77 and 78 (155). Rounding out the Nevada lineup is junior Hannah Gregg who carded a two-round score of 157 (80-77) and is in a tie for 37th. Freshman Michelle Duan competed as an individual today and is tied for 51st. Duan opened with an 84 but shaved seven strokes off her second round game. Junior Bertille DuPont was also scheduled to compete as an individual but withdrew prior to the start of the first round.
Nevada will conclude the Sacramento State Invitational on Tuesday with the final 18 holes. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
