GOLD RIVER, Calif. - The University of Nevada (3-7) men's tennis team dropped its final two matches of the Golden State Invitational that was played at the Spare Time Indoor Tennis Center in Gold River, Calif. over the weekend. The Wolf Pack lost the late match on Saturday 7-0 to UC Davis (12-3) then fell 4-0 on Sunday morning to UT Arlington (12-6). Nevada started the GSI with a 7-0 victory over Eastern Washington on Friday.
Nevada is now 3-7 on the season and next plays George Washington on Mar. 18 at St. Mary's College in Stockton, Calif. as part of a three-match trip to California. The Pack will play at St. Marry's College on the 19th and at Stanford on the 21st.
In the UC Davis match the Pack dropped both doubles matches and the third went unfinished. The Aggies won all six singles matches, three in straight sets. In the #1 singles match Nevada's Ryan Andrada won the first set 7-5 but lost the last two 6-1 and 6-3 to Alec Adamson. Peter O'Donovan at #4 singles and Robert Allan on court 6 also fell in three sets. O'Donovan dropped his final set 6-3 and Allan the super tiebreaker 10-5.
Allan and teamed with Aaron Breust to win the #1 doubles 6-1 to start the match with UT Arlington with a victory. The Pack lost the #2 doubles match 6-3 and the third doubles match 6-1 on court three.
The Pack lost the three completed singles match and three went unfinished. Andrada lost the #1 singles match again in three sets 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2 to UTA's Jhonathan Gonzales. Mile Cilic fell 6-4, 6-4 to Guanarteme Nuez on court two and Andrew Poustie suffered a three set loss 6-3, 4-6 and 6-4 to Carlos Arbiza.
