RENO, Nev. - The Nevada football team will be represented by a pair of alums in Super Bowl 50, as former Wolf Pack standouts Brandon Marshall and Virgil Green play in their second Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos. Nevada will be represented by three players in total as Kyle Roberts is also on the practice squad with the Broncos.
"We are wishing Virgil, Brandon and Kyle the best of luck as the Broncos compete for a Super Bowl championship this weekend," said head coach Brian Polian. "All three are great representatives of the University of Nevada and the Wolf Pack football program. We are cherring for them on Sunday."
Green was a four-year letter winner at Nevada, playing in 50 games from 2007-10. Green tallied 939 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in his Wolf Pack career while earning first team All-WAC honors as a senior. Green was drafted in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Broncos, where he has now played in 72 games with 35 starts in five seasons. Green has played in all 16 games this season with five starts, 12 receptions, 173 yards and one touchdown.
Marshall was a four-year letter winner at Nevada from 2008-11, playing in 52 career games with 260 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and six sacks. Marshall is now a four-year NFL veteran after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. The Las Vegas native has started in all 16 games with Denver this season, posting 102 tackles and a pair of forced fumbles.
Roberts was picked up by the Broncos as a free agent in 2015 and has since spent the season on Denver's practice squad. The Sparks, Nev. native was with the Wolf Pack from 2010-14, earning letters in his last three seasons while starting in 24 games on the Union.
Super Bowl 50 is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. PT this Sunday between the Broncos (13-4) and the Carolina Panthers (16-1) at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
