Round one results

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Nevada men's golf team began its stay at the Fighting Irish Golf Classic Sunday afternoon and finished the day in 10th place.

The Wolf Pack wrapped up the opening round 12-over par with a team score of 292. Nevada trails tournament leader Eastern Michigan by 12 strokes heading into round two. The Eagles were the only team in the field of 15 to not shoot over par. The Pack's scorecard had just one double bogey on it but bogeys outweighed the number of birdies on Sunday.

Nevada was led by sophomore Travis Fredborg who fired a 1-over 71 on the day, one stroke shy of tying his season-low. Fredborg finished strong, birdieing the final three holes of his round to recover from a double on No. 13. He enters the second round tied for 15th in the field of 87.

Junior Kaleb Gorbahn finished the day two shots behind Fredborg with a 3-over 73. Gorbahn posted three birdies on the back-9 and is tied for 32nd place. Classmate Corey Eddings and senior Nick Fuller are in a tie for 42nd after the opening round after they each carded rounds of 74. Junior Grant Booth, the team's top finisher from its last event, posted a 5-over round of 75 on Sunday and is tied for 56th.

Blake Barens of Notre Dame leads the individual field at 4-under par and is one stroke ahead of second place Joey Kremer of Eastern Michigan. Of the 87 players, only nine recorded rounds under par.
