Nevada soccer rallied against San Diego State after the Aztecs scored in the first half and the Wolf Pack matched it in the second half, but at 109:57 San Diego State scored to win 2-1 (2OT).

During the first half, San Diego State took the lead scoring at 14:13. It was a crowded goal box for Nevada and as the ball bounced around from the Aztecs to the Wolf Pack, San Diego State's Hedda Regefalk managed to take a shot and found the back of the net. The Pack went the rest of the first period down 1-0.

The second half, however, was the comeback period for Nevada. Less than two minutes into the half Angel Meriwether took a shot. The ball barely missed the goal frame going wide. But the surge was started as Nevada would then take eight more shots in the second half. In the 66th minute one of those shots was good for the Pack's lone goal. Rylee Peterson crossed the ball into the box where Stephanie Martini shot it low past the goalkeeper. Martini recorded her first goal of the season and broke Nevada's goalless streak from the past three games.

Aless Abbühl came close to scoring later in the second half. She took three shots in the final 10 minutes of the period but two of them were saved and the other went wide. In the final minute of regular play San Diego State's head coach Mike Friesen received a yellow card after arguing with the official over fouls.

With the score 1-1, the teams entered the first 10-minute overtime period. The Aztecs took most of the shots in this time but in the 99th minute Olivia Torres took a shot on goal. The ball was saved and the two teams entered the second overtime period.

San Diego State had two conference games result in 1-1 draws earlier this season. The first game was against Fresno State and then again this weekend against UNLV. While both teams took shots, attempting to end the match and bring their teams a victory, the Aztecs were reluctant to walk away with yet another 1-1 (2OT) tie. In the midst of the 10-second countdown, Aztecs' Angela Mitchell broke away down the right side of the field and crossed the ball to the upper left corner of the goal, just barely out of goalie Kelsey Quintos' reach. Nevada lost 2-1 (2OT) at 109:57.

San Diego State out shot Nevada 38-18, however most of the shots were far off frame or blocked from the Nevada defenders. It was a closer margin for shots on goal with the Aztecs leading 10-8. Both teams received two off sides and totaled 23 fouls combined. Nevada is now 4-9-0, 1-5-0 MW.

The Pack will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. next weekend for two matches. First up, on Friday, Oct. 14, Nevada plays Colorado College at 2 p.m. PT. The next match is against Air Force on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. PT.
