Day 1 Results Get Acrobat Reader

BOISE, Idaho. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team has six singles players and two doubles teams still alive in the winners bracket after the first day of the Dar Walters Fall Classic hosted by Boise State. The event is primarily being held at the Appleton Tennis Center on the Boise State campus, but some matches will be held at two secondary sites as well, the Boas Indoor Tennis Center (Boise State) and at Julia Davis Park across the river from campus.

Pack freshmen Julien Evrard and Kostya Nesterenko are competing in the A bracket and won on Friday. Evrard earned the fourth seed and defeated Portland States Ethan Lopez 6-2, 7-5. He will play BYU's Matthew Pearce on Saturday in the round of 16.

Nesterenko won 6-2, 6-1 over Utah State's Austin Bass to advance to the round of 16. He will played Nathan Boniel from Portland State on Saturday.

In the B singles bracket Jonathan Aremon, Robert Margitfalvi, Peter O'Donovan and Mile Cilic each won two matches to reach the round of 16. Aremon plays top seeded Garrett Vincent of BYU on Saturday. Margitfalvi matches up against Yannick Schmidt of Montana on day two. O'Donovan squares off against Portland State's Tommy Edwards. Cilic faces Sebastian Edin from Idaho State in the round of 16.

Sandro Lena went 1-1, winning his first match before suffering a setback in his second outing. Alex Turc went 0-2, after dropping open round and consolation matches.

The Nevada doubles teams of Aremon/Cilic and Lena/O'Donovan both advanced to the round of 16. They will both play teams from Montana on Saturday.

The Pack's doubles team of Evrard and Nesterenko received a bye then lost in the round of 32. Margitfalvi and Turc fell into the consolation bracket after and opening round loss and will play in the consolation second round on Saturday.
