Box Score Oct. 23, 2016 Final Stats
Nevada soccer pressured Boise State on multiple occasions throughout the match but was unable to find the back off the net, losing 2-0 at Mackay Stadium.
The Wolf Pack held possession for most of the first 20 minutes taking 10 shots before Boise State's first attempt on goal. However, when the Broncos did gain possession, they were efficient to bring pressure. At 24:59, Boise State's Falon Miller scored after teammate Raimee Sherle dribbled down the field past multiple Nevada players, once she was no longer able to move forward she passed the ball near the top of the Nevada box to Miller for the goal. Boise State improved its lead when Sherle once again brought pressure to the Pack's defenders and passed it off to teammate Baylee Blaser for a goal at 37:55.
Despite being down 2-0 at the end of the first half, Nevada led the way in shots and corner kicks. The Pack had double the shots that Boise State had with 14-7. Although many of the Pack's shots went wide, the team had the crowd on the edge of their seats on multiple attempts. After Boise State's lone corner kick, Bonnie Ford gained possession aand broke away down the right side all the way to the other end of the field where her shot just missed the goal frame.
Nevada's efforts continued in the second half as the team took an additional 13 shots. Angel Meriwether led the way with six shots in the game, twice as many as the tied runner-ups. Prior to this match, Nevada's leading shots in a game was the match against San Diego State with 18 shots. Today's efforts caused Nevada to beat that by nine. The Pack also matched its corner kicks between halves, finishing the match with six. All six corners were taken by Hannah Wuensche as the German native placed the ball well in the box, but the Broncos often beat Nevada to the ball, heading it away. The score remained the same after a scoreless second half.
Goalkeeper Kelsey Quintos went into the match with 96 saves for the season and 291 saves for her career at Nevada. Quintos made seven saves in the game putting her at 103 saves for the season. She is only two shy from breaking into the three hundreds for career saves.
