Final Stats

Nevada soccer lost to Wyoming 2-0 after the Cowgirls scored two goals within the first six minutes of play. Shortly after the start of the game, Wyoming's Michaela Stark passed the ball into Nevada's goal box where teammate Alisha Bass headed it in for a goal at 1:04. Before the Wolf Pack had much time to regroup and make corrections on the field, the Cowgirls scored again at 5:22, when Stark challenged goalie Kelsey Quintos by kicking the ball low and into the back of the net.

With the Pack trailing 2-0, things began to heat up between the two teams. There were 22 fouls combined in the match. Angel Meriwether received a yellow card at 59:02 and Wyoming's Sammi Dunda received a yellow card at 82:05. With a little over a minute left in the game, Wyoming's Shaina Ashouri was ejected after receiving a red card.

Ashouri's red card signified the Cowgirls' frustration in the second half as Nevada kept possession of the ball for much of that period. Nevada more than doubled its shots from the first to second half, but most were high and the Pack remained goalless. Wyoming took eight shots in the first 45 minutes but only managed two shots in the second period.

Nevada and Wyoming were tied in the series 2-2-1. The Cowgirls take the lead after today's match and gain their first conference game win this year. Nevada is now 4-7-0, 1-3-0 MW. The Pack will play next on Friday, Oct. 7 against New Mexico at 6:30 p.m. in Mackay Stadium.
