FRESNO, Calif. (AP) Senior Marqueze Coleman finished with a game-high 22 points on 12-of-13 shooting from the free throw line but it wasn't enough as Fresno State topped Nevada, 95-63, in a Mountain West contest on Wednesday night.
Fresno State (10-5, 1-1) rebounded from what it considered a very poor showing in a loss to New Mexico in its last game, falling behind early and trailing by as many as 24 points in the second half.
Fresno State jumped out to an early 12-0 lead over the first four minutes of the game and never lost the lead.
Nevada tried to make a comeback after a one-handed slam from freshman Cameron Oliver with 6:01 to play in the first half sparked a 6-0 run that made it 33-15 Fresno State. It wouldn't be enough though as the Bulldogs hot shooting deterred the Pack despite 10 second half points from sophomore Eric Cooper Jr.
Oliver added 13 for Nevada (9-5, 1-1), which entered the game averaging a conference-best 79.6 points per game, but was just 18 of 51 from the field and 1 of 13 from long range.
The Wolf Pack next travels to Air Force for a 7 p.m. contest on Saturday, Jan. 9.
