RENO, Nev. - Senior Christian Stolo has been projected to retain his title as Mountain West Pitcher of the Year according to College Sports Madness. The publication also named four Wolf Pack players to the 2016 Preseason All-MW Teams.
Stolo, a native of Reno, was named the MW Pitcher of the Year last season in his first season of Division I baseball. The left-handed pitcher posted an 8-2 record with a 2.83 ERA. Stolo also tallied 70 strikeouts in 76.1 innings of work. He tied for the league lead in total wins before being tabbed as the MW's top pitcher.
College Sports Madness also named senior Bryce Greager and junior Trenton Brooks to the preseason All-MW first team. An All-MW selection last year at third base, Greager ranked third on the team with a .355 batting average to go along with 41 RBI. Brooks was named the Mountain West Tony Gwynn Player of the Year last season and was a finalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award. Brooks lead the conference with a .365 average while also posting a 4-1 record on the mound.
Additionally, sophomore Jordan Pearce was named to College Sports Madness' preseason All-MW second team. The Oceanside, Calif. native batted .304 as a freshman last season with 41 games played and 26 starts.
The Wolf Pack opens the 2016 season in three weeks, beginning with a four-game series against Northwestern in Mesa, Ariz.
